COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

JANUARY 5, 2004

 

 

A Committee of the Whole meeting of the Menominee City Council, City of Menominee, County of Menominee, State of Michigan, was held Monday, January 5, 2004 at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Complex Council Chambers.

The Honorable George W. Krah called the meeting to order and led the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

PRESENT: Council Members Fernstrum, Hudon, Jasper, Mick, Organ, Plemel, Schloegel, and Sorensen

ABSENT: None

PRESENT: 9 ABSENT: 0

Mayor Krah welcomed the new members and distributed the following standing committee assignments:

Building and Grounds Committee:

*Donald Hudon, Mark Jasper, Arnold Organ

Finance Committee:

*Carl Sorensen, William Plemel, Todd Schloegel, George Krah

Judicial and Legislative Committee:

*Lisa Fernstrum, Donald Hudon, Donald Mick

Parks and Recreation Committee:

*William Plemel, Lisa Fernstrum, Arnold Organ

Personnel and Labor Committee:

*Arnold Organ, Todd Schloegel, Carl Sorensen, George Krah

Public Safety Committee:

* Todd Schloegel, Donald Mick, Carl Sorensen

Public Works Committee:

*Donald Mick, Mark Jasper, William Plemel

Special Projects Committee:

* Mark Jasper, Lisa Fernstrum, Donald Hudon

* Chairperson

Mr. Furton gave an overview of the meeting scheduling process, current projects, and the City's financial condition.

Department head introductions and reports were heard from:

City Assessor Jill Schwanz

Clerk/Treasurer Tom DeNike

Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Harry Ellery

Library Director Cheryl Hoffman

City Attorney Rob Jamo

Director of Police/Fire Services Jeff Jones

Water and Wastewater Utilities Bill St. Martin

City Engineer George Cowell and Recreation Director Joan Kosewski were excused from the meeting.

Mr. Jamo spoke on the Open Meetings Act and Roberts Rules of Order.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT:

Mayor Krah opened the public comment session that was called for the purpose of hearing citizen comments.

Walter Multerer, 1012-38th Avenue, said he felt this meeting was very informative and it was unfortunate that citizens did not attend.

 

ADJOURN.

A motion was made by Council Member Plemel and seconded by Council Member Organ to adjourn the meeting. This motion was carried unanimously.
