A Committee-of-the-Whole meeting of the Menominee
City Council, City of
The Honorable George W. Krah called the meeting to
order and led the pledge of allegiance to the flag.
PRESENT: Councilmembers Fernstrum, Hudon, Jasper, Mick,
Organ, and Pintarelli; Mayor Krah
ABSENT: Councilmembers Schloegel and Sorensen (both
excused)
PRESENT: 7 ABSENT: 2
A motion was made by Councilmember Organ and
seconded by Councilmember Hudon to excuse Councilmembers Schloegel and Sorensen
from the meeting. This motion was
carried unanimously.
Mayor
Krah opened the Committee-of-the-Whole meeting that he called for the purpose
of considering the following agenda:
1)
Pledge of allegiance to the flag.
2)
Public comment on agenda items only.
3)
Discussion on goals and objectives.
4)
Adjourn.
PUBLIC
COMMENT:
Mayor Krah opened the public comment session that
was called for the purpose of hearing citizen comments on agenda items only.
No one was heard.
A motion was made by Councilmember Fernstrum and
seconded by Councilmember Jasper to close the public comment session. This motion was carried unanimously.
DISCUSS
CITY GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
Several items were discussed including:
·
Any objectives need to be specific with timeline.
·
Copies of the existing Comprehensive Plan will be distributed to
councilmembers.
·
Do things get done because of the Master Plan or do they just get done
by doers?
·
Can council prepare its own vision statement? One or five year plan.
·
Many things are going on (development) that many people are not aware
of.
·
Council needs to decide direction and then the City Manager can go from
there.
·
Committees to develop goals and objectives for their areas.

Carolyn Kennedy of the Michigan Municipal League and
City Attorney Rob Jamo will be presenting a seminar on City Manager/City
Council duties and operations on January 28th.
ADJOURN:
A motion was made by Councilmember Mick and seconded
by Councilmember Organ to adjourn the meeting.
This motion was carried unanimously.
